DESCRIPTION:All hands on deck! Join us for August Field Week at the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum from August 3rd to August 7th and help us keep the USS EDSON looking her best! This is your chance to roll up your sleeves\, get involved\, and make a real impact on preserving a historic naval destroyer. \nWhether you’re a seasoned volunteer or new to ship restoration\, we have tasks for all skill levels. Your time and effort help ensure that this incredible piece of history remains in top condition for visitors\, veterans\, and future generations to enjoy. \nHow You Can Help:\n\nPainting & Touch-Ups – Refresh the ship’s exterior and interior\nCleaning & Maintenance – Keep passageways\, exhibits\, and displays in top shape\nMinor Repairs – Assist with restoration and upkeep projects\nGroundskeeping – Help maintain the museum’s outdoor areas\n\nWhy Volunteer?\n\nGive back to a historic naval treasure\nGain hands-on restoration experience\nMeet and work alongside fellow history enthusiasts\nEnjoy a fun and rewarding experience\n\nNo Charge for Volunteers\nThere is no charge to participate during Field Week for those volunteering their time. The weekend will feature tent camping\, food and merchandise vendors\, service vendors\, a beer tent\, and live music throughout the event. \nCreated to honor past and current U.S. military service members\, Thunder Rally brings riders\, veterans\, families\, and the community together for a weekend of celebration while raising funds to support the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum. \n\nVeterans & Active Duty: Permission Granted!\nVeterans and active-duty military personnel are invited for a unique opportunity to board the USS Edson (DD 946) and experience what it’s like to spend the night aboard a real Navy destroyer. \nOvernight Experience\nFREE for U.S. veterans and active-duty personnel. \nImmediate family members are welcome to join you for this unforgettable experience. \nOvernight participants will have the opportunity to: \n\nSpend the night aboard the USS Edson\nExperience life aboard a historic Navy destroyer\nBring immediate family members\nTake part in the Thunder Rally in the Valley festivities\n\nLimited Spots Available\nA limited number of overnight bunks are available exclusively for U.S. military veterans and active-duty personnel. \nFirst come\, first served.
