    2026 Touring Season Coming to a Close ⚓ As the year comes to a close, so does our regular touring season aboard the USS EDSON. October 31, 2026 will mark the final day for regular tours this season. Don't miss your chance to explore this historic naval destroyer before the season ends! We extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our visitors, volunteers, and supporters who helped make another great season possible. Your support helps preserve the USS EDSON and its legacy for future generations. Winter Tours Regular tours will pause for the season, but winter tours may be available by reservation. More information about winter tours and the 2027 season will be announced soon. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to welcoming you aboard again!

  • Save the Ship! Overnight Gaming Event

    Save the Ships is an ongoing wargaming and boardgaming convention series taking place across the United States onboard six historic warships and three one-of-a-kind venues. Information Bring your own board games, tabletop games, war games, card games, snacks, drinks, and more. Overnight attendees will need to bring the following:  Pillow and Blanket (sheets and bunk/hammock provided)  Closed Toe Shoes (to explore the ship) Adults, families, clubs, work groups, organizations, hobbyists, and naval enthusiasts encouraged to attend Minors must be accompanied by an adult Explore the USS Edson after hours in a way not usually experienced by the general public. Earplugs are helpful if you are a light sleeper Schedule SATURDAY  5:00 PM - Check in outside the museum.  6:00 PM - Museum Introduction & Light Dinner + Refreshments  6:15 PM - Open Gaming Begins | Explore the Museum Warhammer 40K, Kill Team, Combat Patrol Kriegsspiel, Blackpowder, Bolt Action Immersive Undersea Warfare Simulator Magic: The Gathering, DnD, Tabletop Games, Board Games, Casual Games & More  10:00 PM - Quiet Hours in the Berthing Area Begins  10:00 PM - Late Night Gaming Hours Begin Game and relax in areas away from the berthing area SUNDAY  8:00 AM - Wake Up Call Light breakfast provided  9:00 AM - All Guests and Gear Disembarked Bon Voyage!   Visit Save the Ships! to learn more information.

    All hands on deck! Join us for April Field Week at the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum from April 26th to April 30th and help us keep the USS EDSON looking her best! This is your chance to roll up your sleeves, get involved, and make a real impact on preserving a historic naval destroyer. Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or new to ship restoration, we have tasks for all skill levels. Your time and effort help ensure that this incredible piece of history remains in top condition for visitors, veterans, and future generations to enjoy. How You Can Help: Painting & Touch-Ups – Refresh the ship’s exterior and interior Cleaning & Maintenance – Keep passageways, exhibits, and displays in top shape Minor Repairs – Assist with restoration and upkeep projects Groundskeeping – Help maintain the museum’s outdoor areas Why Volunteer? Give back to a historic naval treasure Gain hands-on restoration experience Meet and work alongside fellow history enthusiasts Enjoy a fun and rewarding experience No Charge for Volunteers There is no charge to participate during Field Week for those volunteering their time. Outbound Hope is a multi-day, live-action role-playing experience that transforms the historic USS EDSON into a space-bound starship. Players become part of the crew and work together through missions, adventures, and an immersive science-fiction story.
